Wisconsinite now transplanted Michigander pursuing an encore career path. My journey has taken me from hospital pharmacist of 32 years to pharologist and from lighthouse volunteer to lighthouse keeper, published author/writer, offshore lighthouse history researcher, soon-to-be speaker and board member of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association. I'm a mom, step-mom, and grandmom of 6 precious kiddos. What hats do you wear?

Hello all! I am co-owner of White Shoal Lighthouse alongside my longtime friend and fellow contractor Mike Lynch. I am a Michigan native and have been obsessed with offshore lighthouses since I was a kid. The logistical challenges they present have always intrigued me. I was in the market for a remote island property during the summer of 2016 when a friend sent me a link to the latest round of Michigan lighthouses that had hit the auction block. I decided after seeing the auctions that a lighthouse would be the ultimate challenge and provide more adventure than I could possibly handle in a lifetime. I asked Mike if he would be up for the challenge and he was instantly sold on the idea. The bidding for White Shoal Light began in July 2016 and by the end of October that year, we had received word from the General Services Administration that our bid of $110,009 had been accepted. We were floored! It was another two years worth of paperwork with various government agencies before the deal was finally closed in summer 2018. We have been working on the restoration of the structure ever since and have faced endless challenges...just what I signed up for! I currently spend my winter months onshore as a remodeling contractor and have been in the trades since I was 12 years old. During the summer months I can be found doing restoration work offshore at White Shoal Light and Detour Reef Light. My passion is designing and installing mechanical systems for use in off-grid locations.

Hello everyone! Being born and raised in Michigan, I've always been lured towards the water and the adventures it could bring. From the early 90's. lighthouses have always been a big part of my boating adventures, making my way to well over 100. I was ecstatic when I won the WSL Isolation Challenge in 2019. Little did I know it would lead me to being part of this very passionate group and this huge endeavor...and I love it!! Most of my career has been spent in the water purification industry. I'm a husband, father of two and papa to three little ones. Time with family and friends, boating and working out in my shop doing an auto or boat restoration are just a few of my passions. I am super excited for the upcoming season and all that it brings!
