This post is part 2 of 3 where we will review the upcoming 2025 Volunteer Schedule to help you decide which opportunity you would like to apply for.
You will see below that the 4 weeks available from June 21 through July 18 offer 4 volunteer spots each week. These 4 volunteer spots each week will consist of 2 veteran and 2 rookie volunteers. Two of the spots will be designated as 1st and 2nd assistant keepers and 2 spots will be volunteers whose jobs will be directed towards restoration activities.
As a reminder, in a 24-hr schedule, head, 1st and 2nd assistant keepers each are responsible for 2 4-hr blocks on watch. During your watch hours, you are not required to perform any additional tasks, but you may as long as your watch duties are fulfilled. For example, you could pitch in with washing/drying dishes, cleaning, fetching and transporting items for others on station. During your 8 hrs off duty, you are not required to perform any additional tasks, but you may if you wish to. This is when those wanting to assist in some of the restoration activities could participate in that.
Volunteers not designated for watch duty and whose jobs are directed towards restoration work can expect work hours of 0900-1700 or 1000-1800 depending on the type of work being done, what time we gather for breakfast, weather forecast, etc. We also take breaks during the work hours.
If you have any questions, please leave them below or send via DM.
